Bali Kids in Rain

Today, I am planning to take some pictures of a ceremony held in Taro Village. The village known as the site for sacred white cows and presently as Elephant Park Safari. The ceremony is called ‘Mapepada’ where the animals are given a blessing ceremony before they are sacrificed. I imagine I would take pictures of a parade of some animals with pieces of cloths on them going around the village temple.

But it was not the case. I was trap in the rain. I even didn’t reach the temple, as it was a heavy rain before I get to the temple. I was on my motorbike and I didn’t want my camera get wet so I decided stay in a small building side of the road, located about 800 meters from the temple. While waiting for the rain stop, I pull out my Canon G2 and try to take pictures of people walking by on the way to the temple. Some of them walk with umbrella while others use leaves to protect them from the rain. No much protection that they can get, they still wet anyhow. The leaves they use are either banana leaf of the leaves of ‘yam’ plan.

At first I was not so enthusiastic taking picture of people in the rain. The pictures will not be sharp enough and there was not enough light. Luckily the building, I was standing up located in the corner of a junction so I can take pictures to two roads that come toward me. On one of the road, the trees along the road are decorated with colored clothes. It was nice for pictures. The other road is a dirt road still but it was a nice curve of bushes along with its. Seeing this I was become so enthusiastic to take pictures until I show people start walking to the other direction. I then realized the ceremony was finish already. Well, instead of getting pictures of animal parade, I get pictures of people parade in the rain.
