South East Bali Day
It was still raining that day. But we would still continue our plan to go to Bat Cave, snorkeling in Bloo Lagoon and visit Tenganan Village.
We saw a group of people doing Ngayut Ceremony on the beach near Bat Cave Temple. Ngayut is a ceremony held to bring and ‘release’ the ashes to the water (ocean) after cremation ceremony. A colorful tower was made to carry the ashes to the sea. We saw another group doing regular prayer inside Bat Cave temple.
After Bat Cave we went to Bloo Lagoon to have lunch and do snorkeling. It was cloudy and a bit of rain but the water is clear enough to do the snorkeling. Even, we saw some people still go diving.
We then spent our afternoon in Tenganan village, seeing double ikat being made. Other typical scenes like basket weaving, palm book writing, bull walking around, women transporting goods, sate seller were also interesting.
We left Tenganan around 4PM. Knowing my client like to try local food and brave enough to have it in local places, I challenged them to have dinner in Night Market in Gianyar. They took my challenged. The market was open already when we arrive there around 5.30PM. First they try some Balinese cake like ‘klepon’, green round rice cake rubs with coconut and filled with sweat palm sugar. They also try ‘tape’, fermented black rice. Get enough cake as starter; we went to ‘bakso’ cart. They have been told that ‘bakso’ should be nice. Bakso is meatball that can be made out of chicken, beef or pork. On the serving bowl, there will be other things like noodle, some vegetable, as well as the soup. The sauce would be tomatoes, sweat soy sauce and spicy sambal. I also introduce them to ‘srombotan’ typical mix vegetable (at least 7 different vegetable) originated from Klungkung with very spicy sauce on the top. Many other food carts also available at this market like Nasi Ayam Betutu (mix rice with smoke chicken) , babi guling (suckling pig), sate languan (fish sate) , goat sate etc. We cannot try all of those in one visit. We need to come back again.

Been working as a Bali tour guide and driver for over 15 years. Still very much enjoy my work as I meet many different and interesting people. Things on the road are changing all the time and I would like to share some of those that I show. ------
Taking pictures have been a hobby for me for many years. Now, I am still struggling to make that a hobby as a job. Wish me luck please.
