Amed Tour
We were a little pessimistic that we would have a good snorkeling day when we started our driving from Sanur. It was cloudy and a bit showering rain. The rain still falls until we reached Bat Cave temple where we made 20 minutes stop to see this newly renovated temple.
The rain was finally stopped when we arrive in Taman Ujung water palace. A quick stop we made to take some pictures. From this point the windy scenic road started. Unlikely most of the time in the year, the dry hill along the way that usually colored brown now become lush green. It must be because the rain falls lately all over Bali including in this area. It is good for the people here. They can grow corn on their hilly land only at this time of the year. Riverbed that most of the times dry out now can be use for bathing. Goats and cows were easy to get green grass just nearby their huts.
We made some stop as we saw some nice angle for pictures over the coastline along the Seraya Barat and Seraya Timur. I noticed the broken wooden bridge was fixed a little bit. It made no hard work for my car tire to pass on it. We made a longer stop at Kesambi viewpoint. From this point we can see two curvy coastline both with hundred of wooden boat park on it. Gili Selang, a small island known for one diving place in Amed is also visible from here. After made a small chat about fishing season with an old couple who lives in small hut within this point, we continue driving to Banyuning.
Banyuning is the name of the village where one known snorkeling spot in Amed is located. It has nice corral and colorful fishes beside the small Japanese shipwreck. The shipwreck is located only 20 meters from the shore, so no need to hire boat. Limited size of snorkeling gear can be hired from Maharasta café on the beach. This small funky café also serve drinks and food. The beach around here is full with rock and very less black sand. Many-wooded boats are parked very close to each other, just leaving a little space for people go through. We spend few hours here to do snorkeling and have our lunch.
By 1530hours we left the place to continue our trip. We have to make a stop for a doctor in Culik as one of my clients had bad headick and stomach problem. The doctor diagnosed him to have diarrhea symptoms perhaps because he too tired or food. I do not think it is from our lunch that day because he the one who having lunch. Doctor gave him some medicine and he can sleep on the way back.
However, we also made another stop at Tenganan village on the way. It was almost dark when we arrive there. We manage to see the village, even nicer than on day time, as we were the only visitors there. They bought a calendar made of palm leave and a double ikat sash. We arrive back safely in Sanur at around 8 PM.

Been working as a Bali tour guide and driver for over 15 years. Still very much enjoy my work as I meet many different and interesting people. Things on the road are changing all the time and I would like to share some of those that I show. ------
Taking pictures have been a hobby for me for many years. Now, I am still struggling to make that a hobby as a job. Wish me luck please.
