Our first stop after depart from Ubud was Yeh Unda river then Sideman lush valley. Tirtagangga Waterpalace then comes next before we drive up to the quite Lempuyang temple. The view was fantastic as usual from this hilly point of east Bali. We then proceed to Amed to have lunch while enjoying the beach view. We choose to take the small scenic coastal road of east Bali to get back to Ubud.

We departed from Uma Ubud hotel at 9 Am , heading to my village. We started to walk along the small water stream that still for bathing by some people in the village.

We stop and observed the making of grass-thatched roof. My village is the center of roof making. We then make a brief stop in front of Subak temple. I explained to my four guests about this farmer temple as well as the important rules of Subak for farming and irrigation.

After that we started walking on the path amongst the rice field. The first 10 minutes was an easy walk and then we have to walk down on slippery mud path. My guests were 60 years old and more so we have to do very slowly crossing the terraces.

After crossing a small creek then we reached my family dry farm land where my uncle kind enough to climb coconut tree to get young coconut for us to drink. A nice refreshing drink while we enjoying the nice view of Ayung River below.

I introduced my guest to some tropical plants that grow in our farm and the usage of them. They were very interested in plantation as they were famers back in their country.

We continue our walk to our house compound. They met my active nephew and niece as well as uncles and aunties. Here they also observed the layout of Balinese house and learned philosophy behind it.

We then continued our walk to the car passing the quite part of the village. We passed some rice being dried on the street. After getting to the car, we the drove to Tegalalang to have lunch over the terraces rice field.

We continue the day to Batur area to see the beautiful Lake and Mount Batur. On the way back we made another stop at Tirta Empul temple before back to the hotel.

I should pick up Christ and Amber from Lovina and take them on tour before drop them of at the airport. I start driving early in the morning from my house in Ubud. I made a rest stop at Bratan Lake’s rest point to take my morning coffee. I did take some pictures of the fishing pier by the lake.

I arrived at their hotel on time but they were not ready until15 minutes later. As we drive back down, they decided to spend their last time on the beach in the south as much as possible. We then only made one stop in Taman Ayun Temple. We saw people preparing for temple ceremony. The temple was started to be decorated by men while the ladies making the complicated offering.

Our south beach destination was Geger Beach, located few kilometers south of the posh Nusa Dua Tourist Resort. After having lunch at the grill restaurant near the beach, Christ and Ember enjoying their beach time. The sun was nice with rather strong wind blowing the clear cloud above in the sky. The clear water remains calm though. I took some photos and made interesting chats with the seaweed farmers on the beach. They were not so sure how long they will be able to grow seaweed in this area as the land around here has been bought by investor to build another hotel or resort.

Before sunset we made our way to Jimbaran to give the chance for Christ and Amber to have a last romantic dinner in Bali. A memorable end before I dropped them at the airport.

We start around 9 M from Ubud heading to Batur Volcano area.
Christ and Amber missed their breakfast in the hotel so we need to find a place to have late breakfast or early lunch. We went to a floating restaurant by the lake. It was nice breakfast with a very beautiful surrounding. The weather was perfect. The sky was blue above the Mount Batur and reflected nicely by the calm water of the lake.

After breakfast we drive closer to Mount Batur. We did a small walk to the volcanic hill to get a better view of sacred mountain. Our day continue to the spring temple of Tirta Empul. We saw people taking spiritual bathing as usual. Our next place is the rocky temple of Gunung Kawi. Playing and walking around the river was fun and romantic for Christ and Amber. On the way back to the car we made a visit to the house of an old wood carver. Christ gets a fine small wood carving from the wood carver that also serve as temple’s priest.

We continued our trip to Tegalalang rice terrace. We did a 10 minutes walk on the terraces while enjoying the view. After Tegalalang we drive to Mas Village. A parade of ladies carrying offering accompanied by gamelan was held as part of the temple ceremony. We end the day by a visit to Ubud monkey forest.

People have to wait in queue before get the turn to pray as many people from all over Bali attending this ceremony. We spent some time observing the crowd and the ceremony before continuing our trip to Sukawati art market. After Sukawati we drive up to Bedugul area to see Temple of Lake Bratan. As it was one day after Kuningan (Manis Kuningan),a holiday time, we noticed many local Balinese people visited the area. Not to pray but for sightseeing and fishing with their family or girlfriend.

We had our late lunch at near by Muslim restaurant before drive down to Tanah Lot. In Tanah Lot we saw many people doing pray even though the temple anniversary of this temple would be held in the next few days. However, the temple has been decorated with penjor, flag and umbrellas. We end the day with a good sunset here.

It was Kuningan Day, one of Balinese Hindu celebration. I still made a tour with Remi and Sri Bayu. I pick them up at their hotel in Kuta after I finish my Kuningan prayer at home. Before reaching Besakih we made a stop to enjoy the view of rice terrace in Bukit Jambul.

On the walk from the parking lot to the temple, we notice some family still doing their Kuningan pray at their family temple. Tamiang, special offering (decoration) made for Kuningan were placed in each corner of house and temple building. When we arrived at the temple, we notice few families that come from far away has come to this Bali’s biggest to do their pray. We walk around the temple to explore more and waiting for the Mount Agung to show up. But we were not that lucky. The biggest mountain we covered by cloud. As we left the temple, more and more Balinese people come.

We then continue our trip to Ubud area. We pass temple ceremony in Mas then see rice terrace in Tegalalang. We saw a Kuningan parade on the way where a village took their holly symbol of Barong and Rangda going around the village accompanied by Balinese gamelan. Before heading back to Kuta we visited Ubud monkey forest.

I did this tour with a young couple from Singapore, Remi and Sri Bayu.
We arrived a bit earlier in Batubulan to see Barong dance performance. It gave us chance to see the performers doing their make up and dressing up in the back stages. They were very quick doing their make up as they do this everyday. The performance runs smooth as usual.

After Barong dance, we drive to Tirta Empul, the water spring temple. Few people were doing their cleansing bath. When we arrive in Batur area, it was lunchtime. We had lunch in floating restaurant by the lake that has fresh lake fish. It was good for them as they are Muslim. After finishing our lunch we made a quick stop at volcanic rock area at the bottom of Mount Batur. The cloud makes the active mountain look mysterious.

We left Batur area and drive non stop to Uluwatu in the south. It took us about 2.5 hours. We arrived in time. We had time to walk around the temple enjoying the view of the temple and the cliff before seeing Kecak dance and sunset.

Before arrive back in hotel we made a dinner stop at one Muslim restaurant on the way.
