I and a family from Costa Rica; Erick, Lorena, Andrea, Laura and Sergio start the trip from Nusa Dua, overnight in Pemuteran and back to Ubud. This trip rather extensive driving but we can cover most visited places in one day.

My client is a painter. He likes painting landscape. After 40 minutes drive from Ubud on the scenic route, he finally decides to stop at outside of Batunya Village. The curvy and hilly small road that look like roller coaster amongst the vegetable valley of Bali, attract his artistic eye. We arrive in Gunung Kawi around 7.30AM. None of souvenirs shops along the step down open yet. The rice and the grass are still a bit wet from the rain the night before. My client this time is a couple that come to Bali more then ten times already. They told me just want to see something different. We started from Ubud around noon with no real plan. I took them to local warung for lunch. This warung is popular amongst the local, and it hardly tourist dare to come there. The place is clean and set nicely in Balinese house compound. They serve only ‘nasi campur’ with chicken. On the plate, there is steam white rice, steamed and friend chicken meat and fried of other part of the chicken, string bean vegetable and hot chili ‘sambal’. This is a religious event as it is part of the temple anniversary ceremony in one of the temple in Tegalalang village, north part of Ubud. But if you look at the participants of the ceremony you will consider this is a young funky event. The event is locally called ‘ngerebeg’.
